Endangered Species

Endangered species are species that are in danger of becoming extinct.  These species become endangered for a variety of different reasons.  Read the following articles on two different endangered species and answer the questions below.

1. What are the main reasons that the Gorilla is an endangered species?  Use 2 facts from the articles to support your reasoning.  
2.  What are the main reasons that the Piping Plover is an endangered species?  Use 2 facts from the articles to support your opinion.  
3.  What are the similarities and differences about why each species is endangered?  
4.  Based on what you know about the Piping Plover and Gorilla what would you do in order to protect these two animals.  Use facts from your resources to support you idea.  

Part 2 

Below is a list of various endangered water species.  They are on the endangered species list, for different reasons.  Use this resource in addition to the resources above to write a letter to National Geographic explaining the main reasons that animal species are becoming endangered.  You may find additional resources to help your explanation.
